Tim notices that Grant Morrison's use of Doctor Manhattan in Superman Beyond was almost unprecedented:
Now more than ever Watchmen is one of the few true sacred cows in mainstream comics.
(...)
Allowing Morrison a free hand to take the piss out of the story's signature Captain Atom analogue, even if it doesn't seem like that big of a deal on the surface, strikes me as a significant act, and as much of an indicator of Morrison's uniquely privileged status at the company as anything else.
Abhay is not overenthusiastic about those protestors in Secret Invasion #6 who support the Alien Invaders :
Let me just say, on a political level, this comic can go fuck itself.
You know-- one pretty easy way a person could read this comic if they were so inclined is that it equates protesting wars with supporting terrorism.
I don't think the people who made the comic think that.
I don't think they were thinking at all.
I don't think they made a big priority of thinking.
